Newsletter - October 20th

Star Class News
Week of October 20th

We hope that everyone had fun at the pumpkin patch!  It was great seeing so many families.  We would love to hear your feed back on what you thought of this pumpkin patch.

Trunk or Treat
The Church is sponsoring a fun family event called “Trunk or treat” on Sunday October 26th. The Parking lot will be filled with folks and their decorated “Trunks” for your kids to trick or treat at. LAPSK will have a trunk and the teachers will be dressed in costumes. Watch for a flyer in your kids cubbie box with the full info.

Conferences
There will be a sign-up sheet out this week for conferences. They will be held on Thursday, November 6. Let me know if that day doesn't work for your schedule. We can find another time to meet, either before or after school one day.

Class Parties
We will be having a class party for Halloween on Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31. Your child is welcome to wear a costume, and we will be parading through the building, as well as across the street at Kindred. We will be playing games and having  a special treat for snack.  There will be a sign up at the end of the week for helpers!

Scentsy Fundraiser
If you haven't had a chance to get your scentsy order in, don't worry.  We have extended the end date!  We will be having a mini fundraiser to help you get a start on your holiday shopping with Scentsy warmers and scents.  This fundraiser will run thru October22th.  I understand that 100% of the profits are donated to Little Acorn.  Thank you, Karli!!

Other Fundraisers
Since LAPSK is a non profit preschool, fundraising is an important piece of our program.  Other then the Scentsy fundraiser, we also have some other fundraisers that you can look into including: Kiggens Theater, Usborne Book eFair, Scholatic books, and box tops!  Some of these will continue all year, others have end times.  Please take part in as many of the fundraiser as you feel comfortable!

This week in the Star Class
This week we will be exploring with the pumpkins. We will be creating our own pumpkin pictures, painting with pumpkins, and pounding pumpkins.  We will also open up the pumpkin we got at the pumpkin patch and be able to explore the inside of the pumpkin.  Teacher Jo is going to also start assessing the children to prepare for our conferences, remember that all children learn differently and at different rates, they will all pass being 3 or 4.

Word Wall
This week we will be starting with the letter Ee for Elephant or Egg (please don't bring in a real egg, we have an allergy and it can get really messy).  Your child can bring in an item that starts with the letter of the week and we will write the word out and put on our word wall.  They can put their item in our pelican that is by the word wall.

5 Little Pumpkins

5 Little pumpkins sitting on the gate,
The first one said, “oh my its getting late”
The 2nd one said “there's a chill in the air”
The 3rd one said, “but we don't care
The 4th one said, “I'm ready for some fun”
The 5th one said “Let's run and run and run”
OHHHH went the wind and out went the lights
And the 5 little pumpkins rolled out of sight
