If you were unable to make your scheduled appointment, Teacher Jo would be happy to meet with you one day after school.

Star Class News
Week of October 21st

It was great to see so many families out at the pumpkin patch. It was great to see so many yellow shirts! This week we will be going to Kindred (across the street) to sing to the grandma and grandpas on Thursday if your child would like to wear their yellow shirt that day.

Conference Schedule
There will be no school on November 7th so that we can meet with everyone and discuss how wonderful your child is. This week we will be setting out a sign up sheet for conferences, most conference times will be on the 7th but we will also have a few slots before and after school that week as well. We will also be sending home a paper for you questions and concerns, if we could get that back at least a week before you conference it would be extremely helpful.

Halloween Party
We will have a small Halloween party on Thursday Oct 31st and Friday, Nov. 1st. The children are welcome to wear their costumes to school that day and we will parade to the church office and Maria's office singing for a small treat after the playroom. Then we will head back to class for some Halloween treats. A sign up for our snack will be out this week. You are welcome to join us for our treats, although our class can get rather tight. Please let us know if you want to come in (if we have a lot of parents, we will see if we can get another room). We are not planning games afterward but instead will be following our normal class routine, stories...a short playtime then sharing.

October Family Fun Night
We would like to invite you to our October Family Fun Night on October 29th starting at 5:30. Come in your Halloween costume and enjoy some of the teachers favorite stores, then stay for our Costume contest. We believe there are 5 different categories this year and the winner from each will receive $10 off of next months tuition. The categories are: cutest, best homemade, most creative, best family themed, and spookiest.

Trunk or Treat
You are invited to join in all the fun of the 4th annual Trunk-or-Treat. This safe, fun and free event is presented by the church on Sunday, October 27th from 2:00 – 4:00. There will be antique fire trucks, skeet ball, candy at every trunk and light afternoon snack. If you would like to hand host a trunk contact the church office at 693-5881. The church is also accepting gently used or new costumes for families around the area that may need them.

This week in the Star Class
This week we are going to be exploring pumpkins as we pound on them, paint with the stems, look and feel the inside and create pumpkins of our own. We will also be doing my a project around our favorite pumpkin song. We will also be making some pumpkin dip to try on Thursday and Friday.

The first one said “oh my its getting late”

Star Class News
Week of October 14th

In case you are new to our school or were unaware parents are required to transport and stay with their child during our field trips. It’s a great time to meet and visits with other families!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip
Our pumpkin patch field trips are this week on Thursday, Oct 17th and Friday, Oct. 18th. We will meet at the pumpkin patch at 9:45 and start exploring the different areas at 10:00. They are very strict that we stay together as a group and move from one area to another together. It is sometimes hard on the kids to not want to climb while we are waiting but if you get there early you can check out the store or hang out by the picnic tables.

Each child enrolled in our preschool gets one visit through the preschool, if you come both days you are welcome to join us both days but you will need to pay for the 2nd day. We will have a sign out this week to learn which day you will come. The pumpkin patch has asked that only one adult attend with each enrolled child. Extra adults are welcome to attend. They will just need to pay at the patch. Younger siblings are welcome as well, children 1 year or younger are free, children older than 1 year will need to pay at the patch. The cost this year is $5.00 per child/$8 per extra adult. The price includes: visiting the animals, mini-maze, hay pyramid, covered hay ride to the patch and a pumpkin. Children will again receive a bag for their pumpkin. Children must be able to carry their pumpkin from the patch without adult assistance. Parents may purchase extra pumpkins at the patch for the going rate per pound.

Parking can be very tight this time of year, so you might want to carpool. Remember this is a rain or shine event, dress in layers and wear boots. You want to have an extra change of clothes ready for the car if it is muddy.

T-shirts
All t-shirts have been put into your child's cubby. We hope that they are all willing to wear them at the pumpkin patch!

This week in the Star Class
This week we are going to get ready for our farm field trip! We are going to read some of our favorite books about farms, play animal charades, and build activities that help us think about the different things we might see on the farm.

Word Wall

Star Class Song

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
A told B and B told C, "I'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree."
"Whee," said D to E, F, G, "I'll beat you to the top of the coconut tree."
Chicka chicka boom boom, Will there be enough room?
Here comes H up the coconut tree.
And I and J and tag-along K-All on their way up the coconut tree.
Chicka chicka boom boom, Will there be enough room?
Look who's coming-it's L, M, N, O, P, And Q, R, S, and T, U, V.
Still more-W and X, Y, Z.

The whole alphabet's up the...Oh! No!
Chicka chicka Boom Boom! Skit, scat, scoodle-doot,
Flip, flop, flee. Everybody running to the coconut tree.

(There is more but this is what we will sing at song time, check http://www.lyrics85.com/1012859/nusery-rhymes/chicka-chicka-boom-boom-lyrics.html for the entire song)
