 Star Class News
Week of February 16th

We hope you all had a wonderful Valentines/Presidents Day weekend.  The weather this week has been wonderful and we hope it continues into next week.  Last Thursday, we were fascinated by our shadows and had to stop to “capture” them as we came in from outside.  As this weather continues we will be going outside as much as possible, (except for our Pajama Day).  Please remember to dress your children in layers.  Remember there is no school on Monday!

It was fun to see the kids run around for Laps for LAPS.  Thank you to everyone who participated.

Pajama/Valentines Party
Our last Valentines party is this Tuesday, February 17th in the Pajamas for a Valentines Pajama Party.

You are welcome to bring in Valentines.  You do not have to have your child address them but they can practice writing their own names if they want.  We know that several Valentines have treats that go along with them.  Lisa has provided a list of treats that are safe for children with Allergies.  They include:

1) Starbursts
2) Skittles
3) Surf Sweets Candy (they make a variety of things, including Valentine's Gummies) - a little harder to find, but I picked up the Valentine's ones at New Season's in Portland last night. Their website says that Natural Grocer's, Vancouver Food Co-op and Chuck's also carry their products. www.surfsweets.com  As an aside, they are also free of high-fructose corn syrup and a lot of other artificial ingredients).

This week we are going to be continuing our Mo Willems unit, reading and creating with books like Goldilocks and the three dinosaurs, Elephant and Piggie, and more.

Word Wall
This week we will be continuing with the letter Qq for Quilt or Queen.  Your child can bring in an item that starts with the letter of the week and we will write the word out and put on our word wall.  They can put their item in our pelican that is by the word wall.

This year for our Valentines party we want to invite your child to come to school on Friday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 17th in the Pajamas for a Valentines Pajama Party.  Friday we will be inviting the Sunshine Class in to watch a short movie with a special Valentines treat, and on Tuesday it will just be our class.

You are welcome to bring in Valentines on either of these days.  You do not have to have your child address them but they can practice writing their own names if they want.  Friday there are 7 Star kids and I believe 8 Sunshine kids (you can bring for just our class or both that is up to you) and on Tuesday there are 12 Star kids). Laps for Laps
This week is our annual Laps for LAPS.  We will be hosting a fundraiser where the children get pledges for how many laps the can run or walk.  This event turned out to be a lot of fun last year.  Not only did the kids get to raise money for the school, but they went home tired!  It will be held February 12th from 5:30 – 7:00, you can come for just part of the time or stay for the whole time.

Spread the Word
We have started our open registration for next year.   The best way to get our preschools name out there is for our families to spread the word.  If you hear of anyone looking for a preschool, please let them know what you think of our school and send them our way if you have had a good experience.  We have a 2 ½ year old class, 3 three year old options, (Star, Sunshine and Dragonfly), 3 four year old options (Dragonfly, Busy Bee, and Butterfly), and a Kindergarten class.

Newsletter - February 2nd

 Star Class News
Week of February 2nd

It was fun having class in our room last Monday, but we are still low in numbers so we will be returning to the Sunshine class this week.

Last week we had fun learning about how to take care of books and creating classroom stories.  We will leave the stories outside our class so that you can have a chance to read them!  Friday our Spanish lesson took more time then expected so we did not get to create a book, however we began introducing Colors in Spanish and had a great time working together in class.

Registration for 2015-2016
In -house Registration begins this week on Wednesday, February 4th  at 9:15 in Jason Lee. Teacher Katie will be passing out numbers at 8:30.  If your child comes that day, you can get your number then bring them down to class at 9.  If you have specific days you need, we suggest you come in on Wednesday even if your child normally does not come in that day.

The age ranges for the classes you will be looking at are as follows:  Busy Bee and Butterfly classes are 4 by September, the Dragonfly class is 4 by December.  We will also have afternoon classes available for 4 year olds next year.  This is a great way to get the children ready for full day the following year.  We are asking that you provide a second choice for a morning class in class we have low enrollment.

Spread the Word
Our Open Registration starts on February 6th.
