Newsletter - March 9th

Star Class News
Week of March 9th

Last week we had a lot of fun with Dr Seuss.  Especially with creating art with our feet.  Most of the children were willing to have the feet painted, but for those that wouldn’t (and I feel the same way as they do) we traced their shoes and made shoe prints.  Check out our prints in the hall!

Hough St. Paddys Day Parade
Tuesday March 16th our school will be walking in the Parade to celebrate St. Patricks Day and our wonderful community.  It starts at Hough Elementary School and goes in a loop through the neighborhood and onto main street then back to the school.  It is a very easy walk and strollers, wagons, etc.  are welcome.  Please consider coming with your family and showing your support for our school by joining us in the parade.  Please remember, parents are responsible for transporting and supervising their children during this event.

Family Breakfast and Art Show
On Saturday March 21st, we would like to invite you and your family to join us to for breakfast to celebrate our wonderful families and childrens art.

Auction Basket
We will start collecting items for our Classroom Basket.  This year the Star Class will be putting together a gift wrapping basket.  We are looking for donations of Wrapping Paper, Tape, Gift Bags, Tissue Paper, Bows, decorations, etc.  Donations are not mandatory but if you want to help create a wonderful basket you can either bring in any Gift Wrapping materials or donate money and we will purchase the items.

Auction
Mark your calender for our Auction Saturday April 18th at Big Al's.  Tickets will go on Sale March 16th!  Tickets will be $18/person, or $34/couple until April 10th.  After April 10, tickets will be $22/person or $40/couple.  This is an adult-only night, and a night where we can have lots of fun, play games and have a good time.
**Families who purchase auction tickets will get free bowling coupons

Library Fieldtrip
We will be having our Library Field trips on  March 24th and 25th.  The time will be in the next newsletter hopefully.  Instead of meeting at the school, we will meet at the downtown Vancouver Library with the Sunshine Class.

Just a reminder to our new families:
The pre-school has the policy that you, as parents, are responsible for transporting your own child to and from field trips. Teachers may not transport the children. If you cannot transport your child, then you may authorize another parent to do so. This needs to be done in writing.

This week in the Star Class
This week we will be learning with the stories of Laura Numeroff which include:  If you give a Moose a Muffin, If you give a Mouse a Cookie, If you give a pig a pancake and more.   We will be talking about the concept of “If-then” throughout our projects, stories and play all week.

Word Wall
This week we will be continuing with the letter Tt for Treasure and Tiny.  Your child can bring in an item that starts with the letter of the week and we will write the word out and put on our word wall.  They can put their item in our pelican that is by the word wall.
